People write us all the time and ask, "Can you give me a list of low
carbohydrate foods that I can eat?" We get this question almost more
than any other! Why is this a difficult question to answer?
Well, in general, if you are on a low carb diet, you can have meats,
eggs, cheeses and a small salad. Generally, foods are divided into three
nutritional groups:
Fats
Proteins
Carbohydrates
Since all foods have different amounts of all those groups, it would be
nearly impossible to give out a "list" of foods containing
carbohydrates. Here at the Low Carb Nexus®, what we sell
are foods that are low in carbohydrate.... to get specifics on general
foods, I would recommend looking up any specific foodstuff
on the USDA's database at this link:
USDA Nutrient Database Lookup
enter the name of the food... like "corn," then you can narrow it down
like selecting "Babyfood, vegetable, butternut squash and corn"... and
then click on the "report" button... you will see that baby food is 9.30
grams of carbohydrates in 100 grams of baby food. In this way, you can
look up any food in their database!
Keep in mind that one of the main reasons that the Low Carb Nexus®
exists is to provide a place where you can get Low Carbohydrate,
Sugar-Free Foods and Products that you can use and enjoy! Here's a link
to our LCN On-Line Shopping System:
Low Carb Nexus®
On-Line Shopping Cart
There you will find categories (on the left hand side of the screen)
that have a wide selection of Low Carb Products!
Also, we do carry a booklet that has a handy reference of Carbohydrate
Counts by Dr. Atkins, that link is here:
